Gastroenteritis

Please note we have had recent incidents of gastroenteritis on campus. The Boston Public Health Commission (BPHC) has noted a number of cases of gastroenteritis throughout Boston as of late. Outbreaks of the virus are caused by the norovirus, a highly contagious virus that causes nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea. If suffering from these symptoms, you should immediately report this to your Resident Assistant.

Please be assured that the College is taking immediate steps to address this situation:

  • Dining services will curtail the availability of self-served food items and implement the use of disposable plateware and utensils.
  • Additional cleaning staff will be brought on to do more frequent cleaning of certain areas on campus.
  • Hand sanitizer will continue to be available.
Students: If you feel you need medical attention, please call Health Services at 617 264-7678. More information on gastroenteritis is available on the Emmanuel Portal and on the BPHC’s website at www.bphc.org.
