Understanding your Aid Award Letter

Estimated Award

Once we have received your applications for financial aid and all other required documentation, a Financial Aid Award Letter will be mailed to you. The award letter will inform you of your eligibility for financial aid at Emmanuel College for the academic year for which you applied. You will also receive a Financial Aid Award Guide that provides descriptions of aid, procedures to complete the financial aid application process, and billing information.

To reduce or decline any aid, please contact the Office of Student Financial Services.

Verified Award

If you decide to enroll at Emmanuel College, we ask that you submit signed copies of the student's and parents' federal income tax returns and any subsequently requested information, to verify the information provided on the FAFSA. Once the information is verified, a Verified Financial Aid Award Letter will be mailed. This award may be the same, higher or lower than your estimated award depending on the adjustments required to your FAFSA data.

Appealing Your Award

Financial aid for the 2008-2009 academic year is based on 2007 income information. If you experience significant changes from 2007 to 2008, we may be able to consider this information to determine if you are eligible for additional assistance. Significant changes may include: death of a parent, loss of employment (or decrease in salary) or medical expenses not covered by insurance that exceed 5% of the family's adjusted gross income. These circumstances must be documented. To do this, please complete the Income Reduction Form, available from the Office of Student Financial Services. If there are other circumstances not listed here, please send us a detailed letter and we will determine if additional assistance can be provided.
