Meet Our Staff

Dan Darcy

Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Student Activities

A native of Fall River, Massachusetts, Dan received both his Master of Education in Counseling with a concentration in Student Personnel Services and his Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Speech Communication from Bridgewater State College. Prior to coming to Emmanuel in 2001, Dan was the Assistant Director for Orientation and Greek Life at Bridgewater State College. Before that, he was the Director of Residence Life and Housing at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. Prior to that, he served as an Area Director of Residence Life/Assistant to the Dean of Students at the University of Tampa.

As the Assistant Dean of Students, Dan is responsible for the overall management of the Office of Student Activities and Multicultural Programs. He works directly with the Student Government Association, New Student and Family Orientation, First Year Programs, Leadership Programs and clubs and organizations.

Dan currently serves on the National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) Northeast Regional Leadership Team as the Coordinator for Educational and Professional Development. He is a member of the New England Leadership Summit planning committee and has previously held positions with the National Orientation Directors Association (NODA) Region IX, the Association of Fraternity Advisors (AFA), and is a graduate of Indiana University's Interfraternity Institute.

He also holds membership in the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), Sigma Phi Epsilon National Fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Honor Society, Phi Pi Delta Fraternity (past President), the Order of Omega National Greek Leadership Honor Society and is the past President of the Bridgewater State College Alumni Association.

Damita A. Davis

Associate Director Student Activities/Multicultural Programs

A native of Providence, Rhode Island, Damita received both her bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Rhode Island. In 1997, Damita received her Bachelors of Science in Human Development and Family Studies and in 2002 she received a Master of Science in Human Development and Family Studies with a concentration in College Student Personnel. Prior to coming to Emmanuel, Damita was a Graduate Assistant Hall Director at the University of Rhode Island. During this time she designed and implemented the Rose Butler Browne Mentor and Leadership Program, which is still in existence this day.

As Associate Director of Student Activities/Multicultural Programs, Damita is responsible for the development of diversity programs and initiatives for students on campus. She also conducts training for our student para-professionals for Resident Assistants, Orientation Leaders and Peer Advisors. Most recently, Damita became the Coordinator of the Cultural Competence Initiative, which is offered in partnership with the Jean Yawkey Center for Community Leadership. Damita also coordinates the Emmanuel College Family Weekend programs.

Damita is the advisor for the Black Student Union, H.U.E.L.L.A.S., and Uprising! Magazine.

Damita is the Coordinator of the Women of Color Caucus for the Massachusetts Association of Women in Education. She is currently working with other African American women in the field to establish the Association of African-American Women in Higher Education, in the state of Massachusetts. She is a member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators and the American College Personnel Association.

Cat DesRoche

Associate Director of First Year Programs and Leadership Development

Originally from Lakeville, Massachusetts, Cat graduated from Emmanuel College in 2005 with a degree in Elementary Education and received her master's degree in Education from Suffolk University in Higher Education Administration in 2006. Prior to joining the Emmanuel staff in January 2007, Cat served as a Graduate Assistant at Wentworth Institute of Technology in the Student Leadership Programs Office and as a Programming Grad Fellow at Suffolk University. Cat currently serves as the Secretary for the Massachusetts Association of College Student Personnel Administrators.

Colin Stanton

Assistant Director of  Student Activities and Volunteer Service

Colin Stanton is a native of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Religious Studies and a Master of Science in College Student Personnel Services and Administration from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway. He joined the Emmanuel staff in February 2007 and serves as the advisor to Campus Activities and Student Events (CASE), Emmanuel's student programming board. He is also the coordinator of the EC Connections Peer Mentor Program, which seeks to aid first year students in their transition to college life by pairing them with upperclassmen who have similar academic and co-curricular interests.

Other duties Colin performs include co-coordinating Family Weekend and working with Campus Ministry to provide an Open Day of Service for all student organizations. He is the program advisor for all athletic, political, and service clubs on campus. Colin also serves as an On-Call Professional for the Office of Residence Life. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music, playing his guitar, watching college football, and rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals and the Red Sox.
