What does an RA do?
- RAs coordinate community development for a section or a floor in a particular residence hall (or satellite location).
- RAs answer questions about campus life, interpret and enforce college policy and regulations, handle emergencies, and help out as needed.
- They are present and visible on the floors to be there to help whenever a student has a question or concern.
- RAs are on duty from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. during the week, sitting at the front desks from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
- They provide 24-hour coverage through a cell phone system on weekends. RAs work and interact with, on average, 60 residents. Therefore, they must be sensitive to the needs, values, and lifestyles of many different people. This requires RAs be open, supportive, and confident.
