During my freshman year, a group of students and I had the idea of starting a percussion music group. We worked with the Office of Student Activities, who guided us through the process of making our idea a reality. And soon afterward 'Ill Beatz' officially took form.
As a club, we try to combine different drums and styles from all over the world. We use dejembes, bongos, tables and many other percussion instruments and incorporate African, Indian and Latin beats into one sound. It’s great to have an outlet for experimenting with music.
Being able to start a whole new club as a freshman shows just how much the Emmanuel staff believe in their students. That sense of support is present throughout many aspects of my experience at Emmanuel. Between professors, academic advisors and staff, I know there is someone here dedicated to helping me towards my future aspirations.
