Construction of the Maureen Murphy Wilkens Science Center

Renovations were also continued on the East Wing of the Administration Building. Temporary walls were erected as part of the next phase in the construction of the Maureen Murphy Wilkens Science Center and demolition of the wing’s first three floors began in August. Work will continue on the wing’s fourth and fifth floors.

Prior to the start of the fall semester, the glass on the west side of the building was set in place, providing a big change in the look of the building as it started to take shape. This side of the building was designed to provide the building with a similar glass exterior to that of the Jean Yawkey Center.

August 9, 2008
Interior production during the summer months included the erection of the building’s stairways as well as significant progress with mechanical construction. Additionally, work began on the Academic Science Center’s penthouse area, with construction on this section expected to reach completion over the next two months.

With the steel skeleton of the building complete, work crews begin working on the interior and exterior structure of the new Maureen Murphy Wilkens Science Center.
