Current Research

Geraldine's current research focuses on understanding how people manage chronic diseases in their everyday lives, and in particular, how illness related self-disclosure affects self-care and self-management of chronic disease.

Professional Highlights

Gerry Chalykoff’s clinical nursing background includes positions as a Diabetes Nurse Educator (MGH-Back Bay Clinic), Adult Nurse Practitioner (Veterans' Administration Outpatient Clinic, Boston), Staff Development Instructor (Veterans' Administration Medical Center, Boston), Staff Development Instructor (Centracare Mental Healthcare, Saint John, NB, Canada), Staff Nurse (ICU, Saint Joseph's Hospital, London, Ontario, Canada) and Staff Nurse, Cardiovascular Surgery, New England Medical Centre, Boston.

From 1989-1999 she was a faculty member at the University of New Brunswick (UNB-Saint John), Canada where she taught in both the RN to BN and generic BN programs. As a faculty member at UNB-Saint John, Gerry taught courses in Health Assessment, Nursing Interventions in Crisis Situations, Chronic Illness, Community Health, and Nursing Research.

She is a member, Sigma Theta Tau (Honour Society of Nursing), American Nurses Association, Massachusetts Association of Registered Nurses, American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE), Diabetes Educators of Eastern Massachusetts, and the Medical Reserve Corps, Brookline MA.
