Is this the right academic program for me?

Absolutely. This program provides participants with 18 graduate credits, exposure to a network of other leaders in the field of sponsored projects, and increased skills in successful sponsored projects administration. The 6-course program will help you to manage pre- and post awards, compliance audits, and organizational dynamics.

How will this program help build my career?

This graduate certificate is a foundation for those considering a role in research administration or who want to advance in the field. The certificate can function as a post-baccalaureate program for those already holding a master's degree or as a start to graduate level work. The certificate is ideal for potential career changers, as well as career advancers.

What are the key topics covered?

The curriculum covers critical elements of sponsored projects administration, communication, compliance, legal issues, negotiation, organizational behavior, finance and accounting, and ethics. Case studies and group projects will respond to the needs of professionals to manage, communicate and expand awards and respond to the challenges and opportunities of sponsored research.

How long does it take to complete the certificate?

The program is completed in 6 consecutive semesters with each course offered in a seven-week evening format.

The Graduate Certificate in Research Administration is designed for professionals currently working, or interested in working, in an academic or non-profit research environment.

Where will I take courses?

Courses are offered in Boston at our main campus, bordering the Longwood Medical Area and Fenway neighborhood. Courses are also available, by arrangement, at employer sites.

What is the mission of the program?

Our goal is to educate highly productive leaders of sponsored projects who are critical thinkers, contributing to the research community and responsive decision makers and who are able, through their own skills and networks, to respond to the challenges and the opportunities of the field.

How did this program originate?

The Graduate Certificate in Research Administration was developed for individuals involved in sponsored projects administration. All courses were created by faculty experts known in the field of research administration. Using a case study approach, technology supported platforms, and up-to-the-minute course content, all graduate courses respond to the needs of those working in dynamic and challenging hospital and academic environments.
