Academic Interests
Professor Yoo-Taek Lee has many years of experience in teaching, scholarly research, and consulting. Currently, he is an associate professor in the Management and Economics Department at Emmanuel College. Prof. Lee also a chair of International Network of Korean Entrepreneurs Boston branch office supporting small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for their global expansion strategy. Prior to join Emmanuel College, Professor Lee taught at Babson College as an assistant professor and served as a faculty directly of Korea Entrepreneurship and Management Research Lab. at Babson College.
Current Research
Professor Lee's research interests include corporate entrepreneurship, global supply chain management, supplier development strategy, and capability upgrading. His recent research project includes the relationship between corporate entrepreneurship and innovation, development strategies of small and medium-sized suppliers in a global supply chain, the capability upgrading at the firm level that focuses on how small and medium-sized enterprises sustain their competitiveness in global supply chains.
Courses Taught
He is currently teaching Operations Management and Introduction to Business courses at Emmanuel College. Prior to joining Emmanuel College, he taught various programs at the executive level and graduate level. His innovative course includes Entrepreneurship for Execution that focuses on exploring entrepreneurial approach in operating new/existing business and Asia Field Seminar that brings about 25 graduate students to Asian countries (e.g., Japan, Korea, and Thailand) to visit best practice companies such as Toyota, Denso, Fuji-Xerox, MK Taxi, Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics, POSCO, Samsung Tesco, and selected competitive SMEs.
Professional Highlights
Prior to his D.B.A. studies, Professor Lee worked at Samsung in Korea. His work experience also includes a research associate appointment at Boston University Asian Management Center and the development and management of executive education programs for Asian companies such as Sanyo, Samsung, LG, Daewoo, SK, and for non-profit organizations including the Federation of Korean Industries and Ministry of Commerce in China. Additionally, he has produced more than 65 company best practice reports of Motorola, IBM, Texas Instruments, GE, Federal Express, Intel, Sun Microsystems, and Toyota. Based on his experience from the best practice firms and research project, he is actively participating in providing advices to practitioners through consulting projects and speech to executives in various firms such as Samsung Electronics, Homedepot, Wilshire State Bank, PTC, Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia, Bank Rakyat Malaysia, and Incheon International Airport, Shinhan Credit Card, Samsung Tesco Homeplus and so on.
