I believe in a synergistic approach to teaching. Whether you are a student in my introductory course on Modern World History, an intermediate course on European history in the 19th or 20th centuries, or in a seminar on the U.S. and Global Issues, I make certain that each component of the course—readings, lectures, discussions, assignments, exams, and quizzes—relates to and reinforces the other elements. Plus, on discussion days I bake!!!

Academic Interests

Modern European History, modern French history, the First World War, international relations in the 19th and 20th centuries, minorities in European history from 1789 to the present, non-governmental organizations in world history, and American interaction with the world since 1914.
