I love to introduce students to the endless possibilities in their writing, because I am continually exploring new areas of writing myself. As a journalist, I’ve been a bit of everything: small-town reporter, State House correspondent, and feature writer. As a freelancer, I’ve written for The Boston Globe and various other area newspapers and magazines. My magazine piece, “Marshmallow Fluff,” was included in the Best Food Writing 2009 anthology. I’ve also written extensively for performance. As a storyteller, I’ve performed at venues throughout the greater Boston area and at the Philadelphia Book Festival. In 2011, I was awarded MassMouth’s Storyteller 2.0 Award. I’ve written several short plays and am an active writer, performer, and producer in Boston queer theater.
