Secondary Licensure Program: Secondary Education Students
Students interested in Secondary Teacher Licensure (Middle School Grades 5-8 or High School Grades 8-12) will complete the subject area major requirements and required education courses. Subject area majors leading to teacher licensure are: biology, chemistry, English, history, mathematics, Spanish, and studio art.

Students submit an Application to the Teacher Certification Program in the spring of sophomore year. Elementary education majors must take and pass the Communication and Literacy MTEL during freshman year as part of the application process.
Students must submit an Application to Student Teach no later than March 15 of their Junior year. Elementary education majors must take and pass the Foundations of Reading MTEL and the General Curriculum MTEL Multi Subject and Mathematics Sub-Tests prior to student teaching.
