Students submit an Application to the Teacher Certification Program in the spring of sophomore year. Elementary education majors must take and pass the Communication and Literacy MTEL during freshman year as part of the application process.

Students must submit an Application to Student Teach no later than March 15 of their Junior year. Elementary education majors must take and pass the Foundations of Reading MTEL and the General Curriculum MTEL Multi Subject and Mathematics Sub-Tests prior to student teaching.

Special Education Licensure

Initial Licensure - Teacher, Moderate Disabilities, PreK-8, 5-12

The Special Education Program at Emmanuel College is designed as an additional license for students who have successfully completed a practicum for initial licensure in elementary or secondary education. The program includes two required courses:

  • EDUC 4492 Teaching Students with Disabilities for General Education Professionals
  • EDUC 4490 Special Education Practicum

Secondary education majors must pass the Foundations of Reading MTEL to qualify for special education licensure.
