Serghino L. René ’05

Candidate for Treasurer

I'm seeking your vote for re-election as Treasurer on the Alumni Association Board. Prior to this role, I served as the Board's Executive Secretary for two consecutive terms. My motivation to succeed has been charged by the continued commitment, passion and pride I have for the College and its alumni. My additional competencies in communication and project management have made me a versatile member of the Board, allowing me to expand beyond my treasurer role. After serving one term and coordinating a number of 5K Walk/Runs for Alumni Weekend, I've shown my ability to lead, take action and stay on budget. I look forward to the opportunity to serve you for another term.

Candidate for Director-at-Large

I am the President and Co-owner of Summit Press Inc., a family owned commercial printing company located in Chelsea, Mass. I have had the honor to serve as Director-at-Large on the Alumni Association Board from 2010-2012. While on the board I had the pleasure of attending many wonderful events in Boston and the North Shore hosted by Emmanuel College. I volunteered at Reunion Weekend 2011 and 2012 where I met and made many friends. I would love the opportunity to return to the Board and would be proud to work alongside such a talented and dedicated alumni community.

Candidate for Director-at-Large

As a current member of the Alumni Association Board, I have enjoyed working with its dedicated members to further the Board's mission of strengthening the bond between the College and its alumni. Toward this end, and among its many tasks, the Board has chosen to work toward placing a greater emphasis on encouraging the formation of new regional alumni groups and supporting existing groups in order for alumni to reconnect with each other and to awaken a greater interest in the College and the happenings there. It has been my pleasure and privilege to work with some of the groups to provide events for alumni gatherings.

I would appreciate the opportunity to continue this work as a Director-at-Large on the Alumni Association Board.

Candidate for Director-at-Large

I was a teacher for 31 years in Providence, R.I., where I volunteered to work on numerous committees whose missions were to improve the quality of the existing educational practices. After retirement, I continued to tutor children. I am currently employed by Johnson and Wales University in its Center For Academic Support, where I tutor with an emphasis on international and special needs students. I have been on the Alumni Association Board since September 2011. It has been a pleasure to work with other dedicated alumni. It would be an honor to be re-elected and continue this important work.

Candidate for Director-at-Large

With 28 years as an administrative assistant in a freshman academic office at MIT and 18 years volunteering at the local soup kitchen (preparing meals and serving upwards of 150 guests), I have gained experience and skills that would make me a valuable Director-at-Large of the Alumni Association Board. I have served as a North Shore Regional volunteer for Emmanuel. Organization is one of my skills, but even more so is my ability to clarify and communicate ideas - and I am fortunate to have a facility for creative thinking. One idea that comes to my mind, for example, is designing communications that bring alumni closer to our Emmanuel College. In addition, as a single woman, I have owned my own two-family home for 33 years; this has required much energy and commitment, both of which I would bring to the Director-at-Large position.

Candidate for Director-at-Large

As Director of the Franciscan Food Center (and part of the Greater Boston Food Bank's Agency Advisory Council), I have learned to be effective in a non-profit organization. Working with emerging companies (through Pine Cone Consulting) keeps me entrepreneurial. It has been great to experience the vitality, mission and energy of Emmanuel while serving on the Alumni Association Board. I love working with our bright and committed alumni and would be honored to serve for another term.

Candidate for Director-at-Large

The Development and Alumni Office of Emmanuel College has made great strides in the past few years to enhance the participation of alumni in activities and support of the College. I have worked in the same field for the past 11+ years in the Institutional Advancement Department at Lasell College and would like to pursue another term on the Emmanuel College Alumni Association Board to increase and support event participation and annual giving of all our alumni.

Eleanor Surprenant Morisseau ’56

Candidate for Director-at-Large

I volunteer in my parish, St. Thomas More, in Narragansett, R.I., as a lector. I also help count money for the church every other week. I am the treasurer of the Rhode Island Foreign Language Association. I have held this office for many years. Since I was a foreign language teacher before I retired, I have had a great interest in this association and have continued to serve on the Board as an officer for many years, having retired from full-time teaching in 1990. I deliver Meals on Wheels once a week to homes in the Narragansett/South Kingstown area. My husband and I have been doing this for many years. I transport people in need of a ride to a doctor's office, the hospital and medical (lab) tests. We have been doing this for many years as well.

Although these activities do not relate directly to my participation on the Emmanuel Alumni Association Board, I believe that I have had a variety of volunteer experiences. I am also a member of the Rhode Island Emmanuel College Alumni group and participate in events sponsored by this group.

Candidate for Director-at-Large

When I'm not managing technical projects for Comcast, an company that I've been with for 15 years, you'll find me working with various local and national charitable organizations. These include Susan G. Komen, S.T.E.P., Sophia's Cure and Merrimack Valley Dream Factory.  My fundraising tool kit includes party planning, bike-runs, social networking and even physical challenges: 5Ks, day walks, scavenger hunts and mud fests! I loved my time at Emmanuel; it taught me to be a strong, independent and generous woman.   I'm eager to combine my project management skills along with my passion for fundraising together to benefit the Emmanuel College Alumni Association.

Donna Maria Ticchi ’72

Candidate for Director-at-Large

As a seasoned administrator, volunteer and alumna, I believe in Emmanuel.  My 25-year career at MIT included serving, most notably, as Assistant Dean for Administration in the School of Science. I have volunteered with Boston By Foot, the Brookline Arts Council and the Museum of Fine Arts. Recently, I entered an active, semi-retirement and began consulting in research administration. This included a "gig" at Emmanuel last year.  Working on campus provided wonderful déjà vu, and the expression, "This is your place," took on a new meaning. Emmanuel is an extraordinary, inspiring place!  I would be honored to work with you to build on our unique strengths and shared experiences, to bring us together as the amazing community that we are, and to advance Emmanuel's impressive trajectory. All my Emmanuel reunions have been special, joyful events. We should seek out more ways to celebrate, as well as serve, together. I promise you positive, enthusiastic service!
