Shannon Mullins Carneiro gave birth to her second daughter, Samantha Jo, on September 3, 2005. Shannon married Nelson Carneiro in October 2002. Her first daughter, McKenzie Rose, was born in July 2003. Shannon is working per diem as a counselor at Cambridge Hospital's child psychiatric unit. Otherwise, she is an at-home mom enjoying the company of her two daughters, residing in Somerville, MA.  September/October 2005

Danielle Carter received her MS in Communication Science and Disorders in 2001 from MGH Institute of Health Professions. She now works as a pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist.  Jan/Feb 2004

Tina Chaves is at MGH in Radiology where she is working on optical breast imaging. She has been working at MGH for 5 years. She was also recently engaged to Tom Kauffman. They are planning a 2005 wedding.  Jan/Feb 2004

Andrea Pappalardo is currently a Program Coordinator at the Wheeler Regional Family YMCA in Plainville, CT. She is engaged to John Rossi and their wedding will take place in August 2004.  Jan/Feb 2004

Jenna Wilkinson Lourenco, along with her husband, Joe, and son, Connor, welcomed baby Rowan Isais Lourenco to their family on December 3, 2005. His arrival was long awaited and much celebrated by mom, dad, and big brother.  March/April 2006

Noel Vercauteren McCann has lived in Vermont since 1999 and married Sean McDann in 2000. Noel and Sean live in Jericho, VT with their two wonderful children, Conor, age five and Mairead, age four. May/June 2006

Corrine Dirrane is working for Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center, a non-profit organization located on Thompson Island in Boston Harbor. Corrie takes a ferry to work every day and is happy to announce that the school she works for on the island (The Willauer School) is going co-ed in fall 2003!  Spring/Summer 2003.

Laura Zickell was recently elected director of philanthropy and community relations at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough. She has seven years of experience in health-care fund-raising and six years experience in accounting, earning designation as a certified public accountant. Laura currently lives in Leominster, MA, wither her husband Andrew and two teenage daughters. Winter 2003.

Emily Parsons graduated from the George Washington University in August 2001 with an MA in Art Therapy. She is currently living in Gloucester, MA, her hometown. Winter 2003.

Susan (Fino) Lyman married Paul Lyman on July 22nd, 2000, and had a daughter, Rhianna Noelle, on November 5th, 2001.Winter 2003.

Christy Narkun is currently in the midst of her seventh year as a Special Education teacher in southern California. She has been keeping herself busy traveling, being an aunt, and enjoying all the nice California weather. November/December 2006

John Caddigan will receive the award of "Outstanding Graduate" in April 2005 from the Distance Education and Training Council at Aspen University. John received his MBA from Aspen University with a 4.0 grade point average. He lives in Florida.  January/February 2005

Susan Carroll, alumna of the MAT program at Emmanuel, was named a new member of the Lynnfield High School English Department in June 2004. She previously taught a wide range of English courses at Matignon High School and has received numerous awards over the years.  March/April 2005

On May 10, 2005, Amanda Ciccarello Walker had a baby boy, Eric James Walker, who weighed 5 pounds 14 ounces and was just over four weeks premature!  On May 22, 2005, she graduated from Boston University with a Master's degree in Social Work.  She works at the Lowell Department of Social Services and has been there for 6½ years!  May/June 2005

Christy Narkin just finished her master's in education and will be starting her fifth year as a special education teacher.  July/August 2004

Alison Ward Nyhan married her husband, Kevin, and is expecting their first child in October. For the last three to four years, she has worked as a Youth Coordinator for the Senior High Youth Group at her church, South Congregational Church in Concord, NH.  July/August 2004

Rebecca Consentino Hains is currently a Ph.D. candidate in Mass Media and Communication at Temple University in Philadelphia. She successfully defended her comprehensive exams and dissertation proposal, titled, "Negotiating girl power: Girlhood on screen and in everyday life," in October 2005. She has used her research on girls' media as the basis of many scholarly presentations and several publications. She lives in Drexel Hill, PA with her husband, Tyler. March/April 2006

Heather Martin graduated in May 2006 from Kansas State University with a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She has moved back to Boston to begin a residency at MIT in laboratory animal medicine. May/June 2006

Betsy Jerram is in the midst of her final year of law school. She has begun preparations for the bar exam, which she plans to take in July 2007. After taking the exam, she plans to take a two-week vacation to Ireland to celebrate. September/October 2006

 Bethany Clemmey Colburn and her husband, Brian, welcomed their second son, Peter Francis Colburn, in June 2005. Peter joins his brother, Jack Ryan. On October 19, 2005, Alison Ravins (M.A.) was the guest speaker at the Marblehead Chamber of Commerce's Business Breakfast Forum entitled, "Best HR Practices for Small Businesses." Alison's talk covered many areas of human resource issues, including inter-office issue resolutions and methods of hiring and firing employees. Alison began her own consulting business, Alta Consulting Group in 2001, and she is an active member of the Human Resources Council in Boston, the Society of Human Resources Management, the North Shore Women in Business, and the Boston Women's Network.  September/October 2005

Aine Cryts graduated with her MS in Political Science from Suffolk University in June 2001. She has just started her position as writer and editor at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. She had a great time working in Ireland as Communications Officer at Dublin City University, but is now glad to be back in the Boston area. She has also been keeping busy by volunteering on candidate and issue campaigns during the election season. Summer 2001

Kathleen Maloney Murphy received her RN license from Lawrence Memorial Hospital School for Nursing in June 1998. She married Chris Murphy on October 31, 1998. They celebrated the birth of their daughter Bonnie Leigh Murphy on June 5, 2000, 6lbs 13oz. Summer 2001

Jessica Chaples-Graham is currently in her second year of teaching art and theater to seventh and eighth graders in Belfast, ME. She is happily married with no children of her own, though she gets her fill with 85 students per day. She is also actively involved with theaters in Belfast and Portland, as well as teaching private art lessons in her spare time.  March/April 2005

In business news, Patricia Faherty McCall has recently joined the Synta Pharmaceutical Corporation, bringing 25 years' experience as a human resources executive. Patricia holds the Vice President of Human Resources position and hopes to strengthen the management team at Synta with her extensive background and experience in the field.  September/October 2004

Margaret M. Crawford has been promoted from Project Assistant to Special Event Coordinator at the Alzheimer's Association, Rhode Island Chapter. In her new position, Margaret is responsible for managing, planning and executing chapter events, managing fundraising databases and assisting the Development Director in various chapter activities. Margaret has been published in the Fall River Herald News and Wellesley Townsman newspapers, as well as Provider, a magazine edited for long-term health care professionals and individuals interested in the progress of the long-term care industry. Joseph Frascetti was featured in the Granite State News for his work at various adult day care programs in Wolfeboro, NH. As a certified musical therapist, he uses music in the physical therapy of elderly patients. Joe engages participants in singing, playing percussion, listening, making requests and sometimes dancing in their beds.  September/October 2005

Patricia Lawson has been retired due to health problems, but finds that she loves the time she can devote to painting again. She misses the camaraderie of "making art" on the fourth floor, the crits, the hard work and, most of all, the support of the art faculty! Her years at Emmanuel were among the happiest of her life!  May/June 2004

Sr. Atema Eclai, SND, currently the director of programs for the Unitarian Universalist Service Committee, was the guest speaker at First Parish, Unitarian Universalist on March 26, 2006. Her topic was "Radical Gratitude Rooted in Economic Justice." Sr. Atema Eclai, SND is a lifelong human rights activist. Most notably, Sr. Atema has worked with Kenyan and Sudanese women across tribal conflict lines to prevent children from going to war, talked with members of Parliament about rape committed by soldiers at refugee camps, and taken on traditionally male roles to fulfill the needs of their communities. March/April 2006

Julie Wood has been living in Colorado for the last seven years. She works for the daily newspaper in advertising sales. She comes back to Boston to visit friends and family about twice a year. Sr. M. Gerard Earls, (M.A.) is vice president at St. Mary's Medical center in Long Beach. She is from Ireland but has a number of relatives here in the U.S. and Canada. Carolyn Clarke Kenny '61 volunteers for her several days a week.  March/April 2005

Class of 1991

Nobuko Matsuo Isaka wrote to inform the Emmanuel community of the death of her sister, Ariko Matsuo Emmanuel College fulfilling and challenging. After returning to Japan, Ariko dedicated herself to a successful career in technical support at IBM Japan Co. and then at Video Technica Co. Ltd., a company dealing with security systems. Nobuko remembers her sister's warm spirit and kindness, as well as her constant willingness to help others. Akiro passed away on December 16, 2005, at the young age of 36, due to cancer. March/April 2006

Jennifer Maier married Chris Maier on September 4, 1994. She went to Medical Technology School in Albany, NY and worked as a Generalist at Southwestern VT Medical Center. She became lab manager in 1995 but left to become a full time mom to Emily 6/96, Lydia 2/98 and Jen 9/99. Summer 2001

C. Michael Daley, the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and father of Mary Beth Daley Grey '90, recently made a gift to the Cardinal Cushing Library. The lecture hall was named the Janet M. Daley Lecture Hall in honor of Mary Beth's mother. Spring 2002
