Class of 1935

The class began its 70th reunion year with TEA and TALK in Auburndale on October 23, 2004. We welcomed the daughters of our deceased classmates, as well as Emmanuel College development staff Gail Mansfield, Carol Giusti and Elisabeth O'Hearn '47, who provided an update on the Emmanuel of today and tomorrow. TEA and TALK was such a success, we may try for another event in the spring to get ready for our big reunion celebration at the college in June 2005. January/February 2005

The class regrets to report that Dorothea Leonard died on December 7, 2004. A former class president, Dot was a generous contributor to the class. She shall be missed. January/February 2005

The class of 1935 met for Mass and Luncheon at the home of Henry and Anastasia Kirby Lundquist in Auburndale on Saturday, October 18, 2003. They were able to reach all but three of the remaining 19 of their original 88 classmates. They were sad to learn that four were in rehab with debilitating ailments. Four sent regrets but seven accepted: Dorothea Leonard, Phyllis Drew Mahoney, Anne Snow McCarthy, Mary Vaas Pink, and the hostess of course. Agatha McGuire and Alice Sullivan were disappointed to have to cancel. Nov/Dec 2003

We were pleased to have Gail Mansfield, Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Relations, speak about the Emmanuel of Today. Betty O'Hearn also was with us from the alumni office. And the class of 1935 was honored to have Ned Lundquist leave his duties at the Pentagon on Friday to fly up to help take care of the ladies as he had done as a little boy when there were class dinners at his home and he took coats and helped his father serve drinks. He did a repeat in 2003. Nov/Dec 2003

Father Joseph McGlone celebrated Mass, as before, and we remembered our deceased classmates in the Prayers of the Faithful. Our latest loss was Mary DeGuglielmoo Frisoli. We note that she and her late husband, Frank, former Superintendent of Schools in Cambridge, sent two daughters to Emmanuel: Mary '66 and Elizabeth '69. We also offered a fervent prayer for us, the survivors, and for our Emmanuel. The event was deemed a great success. Nov/Dec 2003

We regret to report that the Class lost a devoted host when Henry Lundquist died unexpectedly in his sleep in the early morning of Sunday, October 18, 2003. Emmanuel was well represented at his home and funeral and with many messages for which his family was deeply grateful. Requiescat in pace. Nov/Dec 2003

Irene Ready is blessed to have celebrated her 89th birthday surrounded by her family. Nov/Dec 2003

Mary Groden Reardon, Anastasia Kirby Lundquist, Agatha Maguire, Mary Vaas Pink and Peg Cherven attended the liturgy in the Emmanuel chapel followed by the reunion luncheon as guests of Sr. Janet in June. They continued the celebration in October when Father Joe McGlone offered Mass for the Class of '35 in Stasia's lovely home. The addition of Grace Doherty McCarthy, Phyllis Drew Mahoney, Mary Lukaszek and Anne Snow McCarthy made this event a most memorable gathering.  Summer 2001
