Schedule a Health Exam

When? Call ASAP to make an appointment for June
Who? All enrolled students and accepted students who intend to enroll
How? Call your doctor's office as soon as possible to schedule an appointment for a physical and any necessary immunizations. This should take place by the end of June. Emmanuel health forms will be sent to accepted students in Spring 2010.

Apply For Financial Aid

When? As soon after January 1, 2010 as possible. Emmanuel's priority filing date is April 1, 2010.
Who? Accepted students who wish to be considered for need-based financial aid
How? Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov (paper applications may be mailed to the federal processor.) Emmanuel's federal school code (002147) is required on the application for us to receive your information. RSVP for Accepted Student Visit Day!!!

Accepted Student Visit Day is March 27, 2010. To RSVP, mail in the card enclosed with your invitation or call the Admissions Office at 617-735-9715. Each accepted student may bring up to two guests.

Complete Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling

When? After you receive your Financial Aid Award Letter, if you have been awarded a Stafford Loan you will need to complete the required paperwork.
Who? Student who have been awarded a Stafford Loan.

Financial Aid Award Letter

When? The Office of Student Financial Services begins mailing financial aid award letters in mid-March
Who? Award letters are sent to accepted students who have submitted a FAFSA and Emmanuel College Financial Aid Application.
How? Letters are mailed to the student's preferred mailing address and information regarding grants, loans and how to complete the financial aid process are included. Initial payment information is also included so families may begin reviewing options for paying any balance.

Request Final College Transcript(s)

When? TBA (or anytime before your semester ends)
Who? All enrolled transfer students and first-year students who have taken college classes for credit
How? Ask the Registrar's Office at your college or university to send Emmanuel an official transcript after the grades for your last semester have been posted. Failure to submit final grades will delay your ability to obtain transfer credit and register for appropriate classes at Emmanuel.

Send in 2009 Federal Tax Returns for both You and Your Parents

When? Once your tax returns have been completed, please send signed copies of the student's and parent's 2009 federal tax returns.
Who? All enrolled students who have received a financial aid award.

Deadline for Orientation Registration

When? TBA
Who? All enrolled students
How? Return your completed Orientation Registration Form to Student Activities, or submit your registration using our online form. If you're entering as a first year student, you will be asked to indicate your order of preference for the available overnight programs and Student Activities will let you know which session you've been placed in. Please note that you may only register for Orientation using the form provided, and sessions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Student Activities cannot accept early requests by phone or e-mail. Once your date has been assigned, please be sure to clear your work and personal schedules for this mandatory program.

Request Final High School Transcript

When? After you graduate and before the start of the school year!
Who? All enrolled students finishing high school in the spring of 2010
How? Before your school year ends, let your Guidance Counselor or College Counselor know that you plan to attend Emmanuel. Request that they send an official copy of your final high school transcript after your graduation. Students will not be permitted to attend Emmanuel College without this evidence of their successful high school graduation.

How? Visit www.universityhealthplans.com to complete the waiver form which documents your insurance coverage. If you do not complete the waiver by the deadline, you will be responsible for paying the annual health insurance premium.

Orientation Registration

When? To be announced
Who? All enrolled Students
How? Most new Emmanuel students will attend a June orientation, as indicated on the Orientation Registration Form. You are welcome to attend one of the June sessions listed in the Welcome Packet. However, we also hold an orientation directly before the start of school for those students who cannot be in Boston over the summer. This orientation is not included in the Student Activities listing as the space is strictly reserved for those who cannot make any another session. Return your completed Orientation Registration Form by May to Student Activities. If you are entering as a first year student, you will be asked to indicate your order of preference for the available overnight programs, and Student Activities will let you know which session are filled on a first-come, first-served basis; cannot accept early requests by phone or email. If you decide to attend an earlier Orientation than in August, please contact Stephanie Sweeney to discuss the proper visa.

“At a Distance” Placement Testing

What? All students are required to take placement testing in 3 areas Mathematics, Language and Computer Literacy. We will determine if you are exempt from the Language Requirement. You can either take the placement testing at Orientation or online from abroad.
When? To be announced
Who? All enrolled students living abroad.
How? E-mail Stephanie Sweeney (sweenst@emmanuel.edu) with the following information:

  1. Identify a proctor (such as your school counselor or a teacher – cannot be a relative) who has  computer skills and internet access;
  2. Be able to access a Windows-based computer;
  3. Have a consistent email address for registration to the tests;and
  4. Identify a neutral, quiet space (such as a library – you cannot be at home) to take the tests. Stephanie will help you to decide if you meet the criteria, give you further instructions, and arrange for your results to be sent accordingly.

Who? All enrolled international students
How? The program start date on the I-20 is August 26, 2010. You may enter the United States up to 30 days BEFORE BUT NO LATER THAN September 1, 2010. If there is any reason you cannot arrive by this date you MUST contact Stephanie Sweeney immediately. Permission to arrive late is difficult and depends on your situation.
