Remembering
In order to remember something new, we need to
associate it or
visualize it or
group it or
pattern it
in some ridiculous or
rhyming or
rhythmic or
symbolic or
colorful way
with something we already know and remember.
If we do nothing within the first 20 seconds to help retain a new piece of information, we will probably forget it.
The sooner we do something with the new material, the longer we are apt to remember it.
STEPS
- Identify the material we need to remember.
- Select a strategy to use in memorizing it.
- Associate it.
- Visualize it.
- Group it.
- And then... repeat... repeat... repeat
- And then... repeat again.
