Information for Parents
Parenting a college student is a challenging and rewarding experience. Here are some of the ways that you can assist your student throughout their college experience:
Remind your student about our office.
Your student may be unaware that the Office of Internships & Career Development is available to them from the time they enter college as a freshman or transfer student, and our support continues when they are alumni. Encourage your student to seek our our resources and take advantage of what we have to offer.
Seek resources for parents of college students.
The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) has excellent information for parents of college students. We recommend reading their information on assisting and supporting your college student's career development throughout their four years at college. Find their excellent resources here. »
Post a job, internship, or other opportunity for students.
Internships and work experience are an excellent way for current students to explore careers and grow as adults. We are always looking for excellent internship opportunities and encourage parents to consider sponsoring an intern at their place of business. Also, we encourage parents who are responsible for the hiring function within their organizations to post open positions (full-time, part-time, or seasonal) with our office. Positions can be posted quickly and easily in EC3: Emmanuel College Career Connect.
