Commencement Day Exercises - Saturday, May 11, 2013

Commencement Day Exercises will be held under the Commencement Tent on the College campus on Saturday, May 11th, at 11:00 a.m. Graduates are reminded to arrive at the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium at 9:45 a.m. for line-up.

The processional line will form alphabetically by degree and Marshals will direct.

After the degrees have been conferred, a representative from the Class of 2013 and a graduate from the Graduate Studies program will lead the graduates in the turning of the tassels. Graduates will stand and with the right hand turn their tassels. Candidates for Bachelor's degrees will move their tassel from front left to front right and candidates for Master's Degrees will move their tassel from front right to back right. All will then be seated.

The processional will begin with the graduates followed by the faculty. Dignitaries and College officials will process last. The recessional will begin in reverse order of the processional. The last to enter will leave first. Please ask your guests not to break the recessional lines until all graduates have left the seating area under the tent.

Commencement Day Safety Notice

Since the tragic events at the Boston Marathon, Emmanuel College has increased security personnel on campus. We are continuing with a strengthened security presence at  this year's Commencement Exercises on May 11th. Public venues throughout the country are adding security in light of these events; this should not be viewed as an indication of any increased threat to the Boston area.

Emmanuel Campus Safety personnel and state police will be on-hand to assist with safety at Commencement. We ask that you and your guests not bring oversized bags of any kind to the ceremony and not to leave any belongings unattended while on campus. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation with these increased security measures.

If you have any questions related to public safety at commencement, please contact Emmanuel College Campus Safety at 617-735-9710 or Jack Kelly, Director of Campus Safety by emailing kellyjo@emmanuel.edu.
