RISE (Road to Intellectual Success at Emmanuel) Program

Mission
The Road to Intellectual Success at Emmanuel (R.I.S.E.) program is designed for highly motivated students from diverse backgrounds who have strong aspirations and leadership qualities, in spite of educational challenges and who may be first generation college students. The R.I.S.E program will be the springboard for student academic success, also equipping participants with the tools necessary for assuming leadership roles throughout their undergraduate career.
The summer component of R.I.S.E. emphasizes academic achievement and personal growth while providing an introduction to the academic rigors of Emmanuel College. Once enrolled in the academic year, R.I.S.E. students are provided with the appropriate support mechanisms necessary to assure success at Emmanuel College. R.I.S.E. students are expected to strive for excellence in the areas of academics, leadership and personal development.
The summer component of R.I.S.E. is a four-and-a-half week mandatory residential program that introduces students to enriching aspects of living and learning at Emmanuel College. R.I.S.E. students' final acceptance into Emmanuel is contingent on successful completion of the program.
Components of the R.I.S.E program include:
- College credit courses in writing, mathematics, and contemporary issues taught by Emmanuel College faculty
- An introduction to the campus environment and resources available to students
- Social activities including field trips to locations throughout Boston and Massachusetts
- Academic support from current Emmanuel students who serve as preceptors
- Guidance and support for R.I.S.E graduates throughout their college career
