New Students
Dear New Student:
The Academic Resource Center (ARC) welcomes you to your first semester at Emmanuel College. The Boston area is part of your extended classroom and offers many opportunities for exploration, culture, and excitement. Below is a list of “not to be missed” experiences for you to consider:
- Visit our neighbors, the MFA, Gardner Museum, Victory Garden and Fenway Park
- Cheer on local and international favorites in the Boston Marathon
- Spend a day exploring or studying at the Boston Public Library in Copley Square
- Plan a picnic on the Common and a boat ride on the Swan Boats
- Buy same day tickets at BOSTIX for plays, concerts & comedy clubs
- Check out the Science Museum or the New England Aquarium
- Discover the tiny streets of the North End and feast on a great Italian meal
- Go to the Mapparium at the Christian Science Center and walk along the reflecting pool
- Find a community service project and get involved
- Catch a Patriots, Celtics, Bruins or Revolution game
- Cheer on one of E.C.’s teams at Clemente Field or the Yawkey Center
- Take a walk on the Freedom Trail or visit Lexington & Concord
- Ride on a Duck Tour bus/boat and shop in Copley Place
- Visit the Harvard Natural Museum and walk through “Hahvaad Yahd”
- Be a good neighbor and volunteer on Earth Day cleaning up the Muddy River
Tools for Creating Yourself as a Scholar
As you plan for your life as a learner. You will study more effectively if you have at hand the books and tools you need to organize your thoughts, your notes, your syllabi, and your written work. You should plan and set up your study area so that it will help you reach your goals.
