Faculty Info
Faculty often play a very important role in influencing students to study abroad. I have often heard students say that they first learned about this opportunity through interactions with their professors.A college study abroad office can only be successful if it has the full support of the faculty and staff on campus. The Office of International Programs believes strongly in working with all the departments at Emmanuel College to promote study abroad and facilitate the application process for students. I encourage you to stop by the office at ADM-120 to learn more about what programs are available and how you can help your students.
If you are interested in leading your own program abroad, the process to begin the planning is fairly simple:
complete a "One-Page Concept Proposal Form," providing a basic outline of the course content, names of the instructors, dates, locations, etc. Once you complete the form, submit a copy to Nancy Northrup, Dean of Arts and Sciences at Emmanuel College, Robin Melavalin, Director of the GEO Center, Colleges of the Fenway, and to me at the Office of International Programs. The deadline for fall/winter programs in 2009 and spring/summer programs in 2010 is October 15, 2008. If after review, your proposal is approved, you will be contacted and given instructions on how to proceed to the next step.
Please stop by the Office of International Programs and share your ideas with me. I am very interested in learning about what projects Emmanuel College faculty have in mind and how the OIP can help make them a reality.
