IRA Gifts

Make a Gift From Your IRA

On August 17, 2006, President Bush signed into law new tax incentives for charitable gifts from donors who are age 70½ and older. You can now make a gift using funds from your individual retirement account (IRA) with no tax consequence. IRA gifts are simple to make, can be counted toward your reunion gift, and provide immediate benefits to Emmanuel.

You may contribute funds directly from your IRA if:

  • You are age 70½ or older
  • Your gift is $100,000 or less
  • You make your gift on or before December 31, 2007
  • You transfer funds directly from an IRA or Rollover IRA
  • You transfer the gift outright to Emmanuel College

If your spouse has an IRA and is age 70½ or older, he is also eligible to contribute up to $100,000 this year.

How to Make a Gift

You can contact your IRA custodian directly to authorize a transfer from your account to Emmanuel College.

If you would like to receive additional information on this unique 2007 giving opportunity, or a sample letter to initiate your gift, please contact the Development Office at 617-735-9771.
