Emmanuel's Women's Basketball Team Makes 15th Appearance in NCAA Tournament

Emmanuel's women's basketball team will make its 15th appearance in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Tournament as it takes on Babson College on March 5th in the first round at Colby College in Waterville, ME. The Saints received an automatic bid to the national tournament after winning their fourth straight Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Championship on February 27th, defeating second seeded Norwich University, 75-61.
After winning the GNAC Championship game, the Saints finished their regular season with a record of 22-5. Iman Davis '10 led all scorers and posted a near triple-double, as she poured in 19 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out eight assists and collected five steals and was named the GNAC Tournament's Most Valuable Player. Kristen LeBel '11, who entered the contest just 25 points shy of 1,000 for her career, finished with 13 points and three assists and received All-Tournament Honors along with Casey Shevlin '11, who also kicked in 12 points on 4-for-8 shooting, to go along with her four assists.
The Saints' NCAA opponent, Babson College, defeated WPI on Sunday to win the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship. This was Babson's second-straight NEWMAC Championship and the Beavers will be making their 5th NCAA Tournament appearance in their match-up against the Saints. In other first-round action, host Colby College will take on Husson College. The two first-round winners will play on March 6th in the regional finals for a trip to the sectionals.
