Students Trek Through Greece as Part of Faculty-Led Travel Course

March 06, 2012

As part of the travel course "In the Footsteps of Thucydides," nine Emmanuel students and Associate Professor of Political Science Petros Vamvakas traveled around Greece during spring break, tracing the Peloponnesian War as it was described by the Athenian general and politician, Thucydides.

The class visited Athens, Sounion, Laurio, Delphi and Crete to witness firsthand the details Thucydides described in his work, The History of the Peloponnesian War. The book is a contemporary account of the conflict between Athens and Sparta written in 431 B.C.

Throughout the week, the travelers updated their class blog with highlights of the trip. To read, click here.
