Sr. Mary Johnson, SND Speaks at University of Notre Dame

May 20, 2010

Professor of Sociology and Religious Studies and Director of the Center for Mission and Spirituality Sister Mary Johnson, SND was a keynote speaker at the University of Notre Dame's 2010 symposium, "Stewards of the Treasures of Our Faith," taking place May 23rd-28th. Sr. Mary discussed "Discernment of Vocation as Discipleship."

The symposium was hosted by the University of Notre Dame's Office of Campus Ministry in collaboration with The Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities, Catholic Campus Ministry Association, Canadian Catholic Campus Ministry, National Catholic Young Adult Ministry, National Religious Vocation Conference, and the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. The purpose of the event was to address the catechetical, spiritual, and vocational needs of young people in the Church and society today, as well as to engage participants in conversation about how to transmit to students both the content of faith and a passion for lifelong, active participation in the life of the Church.

Sister Mary currently serves as a member of the Catholic Common Ground Initiative, founded by the late Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, and as a founding member of the National Leadership Roundtable on Church Management. She co-authored the book, Young Adult Catholics: Religion in the Culture of Choice, published by the University of Notre Dame Press.
