Muldoon '09 Steps into the Spotlight at CatholicTV

Shannon Muldoon '09 on set at CatholicTV

October 24, 2012

Shannon Muldoon '09 has followed her dreams all over since graduating from Emmanuel three years ago.  However, the former English Communication major is back in the neighborhood, where she currently works as the Public Relations Coordinator for CatholicTV in Watertown, Mass.  There, she promotes the station's various programming to over 13 million viewers nationwide.

Muldoon's job isn't just about sitting at a desk and reading press releases, however. This past summer, she made her debut as an on-air personality when she hosted a children's program for the network.

"I would teach children the history of Catholic saints, and demonstrate crafts that could be made at home," said Muldoon. "I quickly learned that I loved working in front of the camera."

Since she began hosting programs on the air, Muldoon has progressed into a field reporter for CatholicTV, interviewing talent for the network at various conferences and events across the country.

"CatholicTV has had the pleasure of interviewing some great personalities, authors and even certain celebrities including Martin Sheen and Zac Efron."

Muldoon has been involved in the public relations field since her time at Emmanuel, where she worked on the student newspaper for a number of years. She was also an intern with O'Neill and Associates, where she worked in public relations on accounts like the Boston Harbor Hotel and NetJets, a private business jet company.

"My internship was great," Muldoon said of the experience. "It really helped me follow that path of public relations and communications, and I networked as much as I could."

The connections she made at O'Neill and Associates helped her find jobs in marketing, advertising, and publishing in New York City, where she worked after graduation. In 2011, she returned to the Boston area and pursued her work at CatholicTV.

Muldoon's experiences at the network have also led to other opportunities in the area, where she continues to develop her skills in front of the camera.

"When I'm not at CatholicTV, I also work as a reporter for NESN," she said. "I recently had a chance to interview Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman, American Idol winner Phillip Phillips and the New England Patriots starting lineup."

And Muldoon isn't stopping there. She is currently working on a new project for CatholicTV, where she will once again take center stage.

"I am getting to work now to debut our first ever Catholic Cooking Show - with me as the host!"
