Annual Holiday Food Drive Runs Through November 24th

November 05, 2010

Emmanuel is hosting its annual "Food Drive" through November 24th. Donations can be placed in the boxes located in the back of the Emmanuel College Chapel.

The food drive is sponsored by Campus Ministry in collaboration with Boston Can Share. In its 24th year, the Boston Can Share is an annual food drive put on by Boston Mayor Thomas M. Menino, his Advisory Committee on Hunger, FedEx and The Greater Boston Food Bank. The food donations will help stock the Greater Boston Food Bank's shelves during the holiday season.

Those interested in donating are asked to give non-perishable foods, such as canned tuna fish and salmon, canned beans and peas, fruits and vegetables, milk that is either evaporated or powdered, pasta, oatmeal and cereals, rice, coffee and canned soups. Monetary donations are also accepted.

"Around Thanksgiving, the Food Drive is something that we have always done," said Associate Director of Community Service and Service Learning Deidre Bradley-Turner. "No matter what event we hold, whether it be the Food Drive or the Blood Drive, the community is always so generous. We are thankful for the support we receive from students, faculty and staff."
