Emmanuel College Awarded Davis Foundation Grant

July 15, 2010

Emmanuel College recently received a grant from the Davis Educational Foundation in the amount of $206,347 to further develop an assessment program for student learning outcomes. The Davis Educational Foundation was established by Stanton and Elisabeth Davis after Mr. Davis's retirement as chairman of Shaw's Supermarkets, Inc. This award will enable Emmanuel to institutionalize a comprehensive plan of assessment that represents more than two years of intensive preparation by the faculty and administration. The project promises to meet the objectives of Emmanuel's academic plan in the area of supporting academic excellence.

In giving the award, the foundation Trustees "praised the leadership of the vice president and dean, and the faculty for their commitment to the project."

Funding from the Davis Educational Foundation will provide Emmanuel faculty and administration with the necessary support and resources to create a culture of assessment and continuous improvement of undergraduate learning outcomes, thus assuring the value of an Emmanuel education.
